I have just had an offer accepted on a studio condo in the Clara Barton (616 E Street). The building attracted me for a number of reasons: its location near a metro with three different lines; what seemed to be a first-rate front desk operation to handle visitors, packages, and security; amenities that included a gym and a rooftop pool (not to mention the private movie screening room and party room); a really lovely lobby and central courtyard; and many condos with windows facing into the courtyard, which promises to be quieter than facing the street. The prices seemed to be about mid-range or a little above mid-range as compared to other buildings I had seen, but though some of them were handsome, none had the combination of location, good looks, good service, amenities and price. I’ll take possession in less than two weeks, and hope it is all as good as it seems. And by the by, Loic Pritchett spent a great deal of time with me, always patient, always helpful, and always knowledgeable. All around, I must say that it was an excellent experience.
